Early Life and Political Career
Binyamin "Bibi" Netanyahu was born in Tel Aviv on October 21, 1949. He holds a degree in architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Netanyahu's political career began in the 1980s. He served as Israel's ambassador to the United States from 1982 to 1984 and was elected to the Knesset, Israel's parliament, in 1988.
First Term as Prime Minister (1996-1999)
In 1996, Netanyahu was elected Prime Minister of Israel. During his first term, he focused on economic growth and improving relations with neighboring Arab countries.
Second Term as Prime Minister (2009-2021)
Netanyahu was re-elected Prime Minister in 2009. During his second term, he faced challenges such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Arab Spring, and the rise of ISIS.
Return to Power in 2022
In December 2022, Netanyahu returned to power after leading a coalition of right-wing and religious parties to a narrow victory in the general election.
